Spencer Torkelson called on a third strike
Detroit Tigers first baseman Spencer Torkelson let the F-word fly Monday night at Comerica Park when he was called out on a third strike in the bottom of the seventh inning against Kansas City. He obviously thought it wasn't a strike and didn't hold back in letting home plate umpire Will Little know.
“Oh my fucking God,” he was overheard saying on the field microphone, according to the New York Post. “The fuck are you looking at?”
Torkelson was not booted from the game for his angry response.
The New York Post reported that "the broadcast’s strike zone appeared to indicate the pitch was a strike, and MLB’s pitch chart agreed."
The Tigers ended up winning 6-4 in a comeback win.
The Tigers are 31-40, but only behind the first-place Twins by four games. The Twins are 36-37.
